Happy New year everyone.

Lets hope 2022 is going to be easier for us all and we can get together in the way we are used too, with some great event coming up, like the Queens jubilee party, where we can hopefully say hello to new residents and get together once again.

Donations in Lieu of Carol singing

Not sure if its a comment on the singing in previous years? but Ian has finalised the donations for this years Christmas charity with a note from Paul, our chair;

Final Report - 2021 Bielby Charity Donations (in lieu of carol singing door-to-door collection).

 

The residents of Bielby gave a total of £340 between launching the 2021 annual Bielby charity donations on the 6th December and closing the collection on the 6th January 2022.

(18 Donations were received, including £175 of on-line bank transfers, £80 of donations by cheque and £85 in cash donations.)

 

All money raised this year was donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance (Registered Charity No. 1084305), as agreed at the parish meeting held in October (Bielby Parish Meeting Minutes, Item 12).

 

Previously, Bielby Parish raised £345 in 2020; £318.81 in 2019 and £223.29 in 2018.

 

Yorkshire Air Ambulance has posted an acknowledgement on the Message Board on the website:

Thank you to all who donated to such a worthwhile cause.

Hopefully, by December 2022 we will have a return to more traditional carol singing around the village.

Bus Stop Cleaning

Thanks to everyone who takes time to keep the bus shelter tidy and empty the bin, I must admit, it sometimes passes me by when its my turn, but as a reminder, the rota is here. If anyone is not able to do their turn, let me know and we'll cover with a new volunteer.

Climate Change has become a Climate Crisis. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is committed to taking action at a local level to reduce our carbon emissions and create a healthier, safer, and more sustainable future for all.

The questions we have put together aim to build a better understanding of your thoughts and views on climate change. At this stage, we are seeking feedback and ideas only. As our Climate Change Strategy develops, there will be more opportunities to share your views. We look forward to hearing what you have to say! We are collecting this data anonymously, so please do not include your name anywhere on the questionnaire.

To align with our aims of becoming more sustainable, we are encouraging as many people as possible to complete this questionnaire online at: https://climatechangeeryc.commonplace.is/. However, to ensure accessibility to all residents across the East Riding, a small number of printed questionnaires are being made available on request at East Riding libraries and customer service centres. You must be over the age of 13 to complete this questionnaire.

Sequential flood risk assesment

A subject that affects many of us and is worth tracking to see how plans upstream may affect us in the village;

On 23 November 2021 East Riding of Yorkshire Council adopted the Flood Risk Sequential and Exception Test Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The adopted SPD provides further guidance on the application of Policy ENV6 (Managing Environmental Hazards) of the East Riding Local Plan Strategy Document and will be an important material consideration in the determination of planning applications.

• the Flood Risk Sequential and Exception Test Supplementary Planning Document Adoption Statement (this statement);

Bielby Charity Donations

 STATUS UPDATE, 30 DECEMBER: 2021 Bielby Charity Donations (in lieu of carol singing).

Since launching the 2021 Annual Bielby Charity Donations on the 6th December, we have raised £255 so far as of 30^th December 2021 (£150 of online bank transfers, £50 cheque and £55 in cash donations).

- The fund will remain open for any further donations until Epiphany, 6th January 2022, for anyone who wishes to celebrate the new year with a charitable donation to a worthy cause.

All money raised this year will be donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Last year, 2020, Bielby Parish raised £345; £318.81 in 2019 and £223.29 in 2018.

Donations can be made by either:

(a.) Online bank transfer to Bielby Parish Meeting Account, Account number: 83103228, Sort code: 60-16-35, stating: “2021 Carol Singing” as the “Reference” or “Message to Payee”; or,

(b.) Cash or cheque made payable to Bielby Parish Meeting Account in a sealed envelope, clearly mark the envelope “2021 Carol Singing” and deliver to either Paul Ward at The Byre, Graham Tew at Corner Farm, or Ian Ross at Firgrove House.

- Any cash donations can be made anonymously if preferred.

- Groups of neighbours, friends or families may prefer to arrange to contribute to a single ‘pot’ between them and donate the combined amount from one representative of the group.

Village Walk

At the last village meeting we said we would do a village walk on Monday 3rd Jan. We will be doing a lovely walk from Market Weighton. We will meet at Neil Readman's at 10am or if you prefer you can be at the car park opposite the statue in Market Weighton for 10-15am. See you there. 

Burglaries In the area

 Police Report - On 17^th December four burglaries were reported, three in Shiptonthorpe and one in South Cliffe.  Offenders gained entry to properties through a front door, and by damaging locks or smashing windows on rear patio doors. Untidy searches were conducted and items stolen included cash, jewellery and clothes. Please remind everyone to be extra vigilant and to report any suspicious people or vehicles to the Police on the non emergency number 101 or 999 in an emergency or if a crime is occurring.

Since launching the 2021 Annual Bielby Charity Donations on the 6th December, we have raised £140 so far as of 16^th December 2021 (£70 of online bank transfers, £50 cheque and £20 in cash donations).

All money raised this year will be donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Last year, 2020, Bielby Parish raised £345; £318.81 in 2019 and £223.29 in 2018.

 

December 2021 Bielby Carol Singing

Hi everybody, I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Due to the ongoing situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, it was agreed at the last parish meeting to again cancel the door-to-door carol singing around the village (Bielby Parish Meeting Minutes, Item 12).

- This is unfortunate as the carol singing is a great event that raises money for local charities.

We would still like to raise money for charity this year and show some typical Bielby generosity by asking everyone to make donations in lieu of the usual door-to-door carol singing collection.

All money raised this year will be donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance as agreed at the last parish meeting (Bielby Parish Meeting Minutes, Item 12).

 

Donations can be made by either:

(a.) Online bank transfer to Bielby Parish Meeting Account, Account number: 83103228, Sort code: 60-16-35, stating: “2021 Carol Singing” as the “Reference” or “Message to Payee”; or,

(b.) Cash or cheque made payable to Bielby Parish Meeting Account in a sealed envelope, clearly mark the envelope “2021 Carol Singing” and deliver to either Paul Ward at The Byre, Graham Tew at Corner Farm, or Ian Ross at Firgrove House.

Christmas Day Service At Bielby

Christmas Day Service at St Giles, Bielby - Spoken Service only 

In light of COVID developments, it's been decided to hold a spoken service only at St Giles on Christmas morning, without carols.  We appreciate that this will be a great disappointment for many but believe it is the right thing to do under the circumstances.
