Village news - Planning and show reminder

 Show Time!

Dont forget, its the annual Produce show a week on Saturday.

Sat 8th August is the show. Remember, Janet Readman will be taking your entry forms in at Ambleside between 6 and 8pm on Friday 7th. You can bring your forms on Saturday, but it helps us a lot to get your forms in on Friday, to ease the rush on Saturday morning. Entries close 11.00 a.m. prompt, Saturday morning.

Also, you may have seen me put a request on the Bielby Whatsapp group asking for volunteers to help erect the tents on Tursday 6th after 6pm for those feeling strong, not easy in the current heat, but it should only take an hour or so. We'll see you at the back of Stoneleigh. - Thanks - Graham Tew

St Giles's Church hedge and Heritage Open Days

St Giles's Church hedge and Heritage Open Days (HODs)

Thank you very much from the Church Council to everyone who helped tidy the church hedge. This was a 'decade' rather than a 'seasonal' cut!

Some volunteers came by arrangement, others impromptu, cutting, tidying, offering spare brown bin space. It was a great team effort. Well done one and all.

Plans are now afoot to improve the gateway, making it more accessible. It may take a while, depending on grants.

Please make a note of Saturday 19th September, when St Giles's will take part in the Heritage Open Days Festival. This takes place all across Europe every September. Here there will be live background music, light refreshments and newspapers so you can sit and have a read or a chat.

More can be found on www.heritageopendays.org.uk You'll find on the website a summary of our event under 'Bielby'. Click on the blue summary heading for some more details if you wish. We'll send out a reminder nearer the time. Meanwhile, if you would like to know more, just contact john_peel@btopenworld.com
