Hello Village, as you probably know, Jon and I bought the Orchard over the road from The Mill earlier this year. One of the reasons being that we wanted to share the fruit with the Village. Well, its harvest time and I have gathered loads of 'old variety' unsprayed cookers and eaters to fill everyone's fruit bowls and freezers. Please bring your boxes, bags and car boots down over the next week and help yourselves, especially this weekend(no dogs please...hen territory)
ReplyDeleteJon, on the other hand, wants to dig the whole Orchard up as he is convinced that there is a stash of loot buried in there somewhere! As you have probably heard, we are dealing with the Paparazzi down here. When you come you may like to come incognito...false beards and wigs strongly recommended! Beatrice x

ReplyDeletei am tracing my family tree and my grandfather and great grandfather were born brought up worked and lived in bielby my great grandfather was william smith born 1842 wife jane they had 4 children my grandfather thomas was born in 1880 his siblings were mary hannah and samuel in 1881 they were still living in bielby with williams mother mary smith.
i wondered if any family desendants still lived in the village, if anyone can help i would be most grateful, i can be contacted at km58may@hotmail.com. thank you for you time.

ReplyDeleteI do not know if you are aware that there is an indoor short mat bowling club, just up the road at Seaton Ross, which is looking for new members. No experience or equipment necessary (to begin with at least!) other than flat soled shoes or slippers. We will be happy to teach newcomers and people with bowling experience are most welcome. We are an active club and play in the local Selby league. We have a practice on Sunday afternoons, 2.30 to 4.30 and play matches mostly on Wednesday nights. We are unfortunately getting short of players and are now desperately seeking new recruits, otherwise the club may fold. All ages welcome. Contact Gyl on 01759 318630.
My 3rd Cousin Emma Barker (nee Bulmer) Lived and probably died in Bielby, her children were Charles, Doris and Edna born 1898, 1900 and 1904 respectively. Any info would be welcome. to the2grays@live.co.uk
