Drinking Glasses Left

 Hi All,

Please have a look at the photo to see if any of these glasses are yours.

They were left in the barn at ours back in June.

Thanks.

Roadworks Reminder and request re parking

1 / 1
Just a reminder that road works will commence in the village starting next Monday 12th through to Friday 16th September.  These repairs are subject to suitable weather conditions.

The council contractors have asked that vehicles are not parked anywhere on the main road, especially on, opposite or near where the road has been marked in yellow.

Also, I can confirm that a request has been put through to have the roadside drains ‘jetted’ through ASAP.  It was noted that with this week’s heavy rain the village roadways were flooded in several places due to drains being unable to handle the quantity of rain.

We will advise residents when this further work is scheduled.

Bielby Church Open Day Sat 10 September

Bielby Church Open Day Sat 10 September

Heritage Open Days are held every September all across Europe to let people see our special buildings. They are free to enter or offer a free event. Yorkshire Churches Open Day is part of this festival and Bielby church will be open for anyone interested in the village's heritage to take a look around. So:

Saturday 10th September, 10.00 am - 5.00 pm

St Giles's church will be open for a look around or simply to sit in for a quiet moment. The choice is yours.

At 11.00 am and 3.00 pm there will be a short guided tour (c.15 mins.) to explain a few things:

- why is the church where it is?

- why is it a special spot?

- how old is the church?

- how much bigger did it use to be?

- what has changed and why?

- according to folklore, which door was the devil's?

- which bell is one of the oldest in Yorkshire (from c.1300)?

- where is the priest's medieval sundial?

- which war memorials are a century old this year?

- and more besides e.g. on show will be the photos and children's craftwork displayed at the Jubilee celebrations.

Feel free to come for a tour or your own quiet visit.

Everyone is welcome.
