Duck Race Results

Sunday was a cold day but this didn't deter the villagers who turned out for the annual duck race.

The soup certainly helped to warm us all up.

The winners were as follows:

Race 1 - duck 119 - Lilia Smith - Chocolates and Wine
Race 2 - duck 48 - Stoneleigh Home - Box of Vegetables
Race 3 - duck 51 - Jenny Smith - Iced Christmas Cake
Race 4 - duck 5 - David Todd - Food Hamper
Race 5 - duck 37 - Liz Smith - Langlands Garden Centre Voucher
Race 6 - duck 39 - Bea Quigley - Chyldes Play Voucher

Thanks to all who attended, to all the helpers and all those who donated prizes. We raised £229 for the church.

Highways Meeting Feedback

The Highways Agency will be inspecting and looking at the best method of holding repairs to the "Rytham Gate" to "Scamland" road and also to the temporary holding repairs to "run off" damage on the Seaton Common and Ash Lane part of the network. They will now have close discussion with the planning team for the 2013/14 programme and beyond to establish the level of funding and priority available to continue the same type of work already undertaken on the East Cottingwith end of Ash Lane. They should be in a position to provide further details in January 2013 and the council's plans to improve the network in this area.

Meeting About State Of Roads

Paul attended a state of our roads meeting on behalf of the village with the highways authority. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the state of roads around our villages. I took views of the villagers to this meeting, however it was only a short meeting and more about the council explaining their strategy for the roads and getting our views on this. The main focus of the Council was to carry out long term strategic improvements to the road from the B1228 to Mill Lane at Seaton Ross, up to Rytham Gate, along the road to Melbourne. This is to encourage larger vehicles to avoid villages when making their way to the A1079. Not sure what the people of Allerthorpe will think of this as it will increase the traffic flow through there. If anybody wants a clearer explanation of this Paul will be happy to give this. Paul has two email addresses for people to contact about road issues. The following is the gentleman who deals with smaller maintenance work and Paul will contact him with the issues brought up at the meeting on Monday, but you are free to contact him yourself if you so wish. carl.skelton@eastriding.gov.uk There will be a follow up meeting in January when it is hoped the council will have more news on whether they have been able to obtain the funding required for the improvements necessary.
