Message from Debbie.... the Pocklington Rugby in the community charity (PRITC) was hoping to collect donations on Wednesday and Thursday next week, however transport is already full so the collection won't be going ahead.

As we are all aware, the cost of heating homes is increasing at an alarming rate and many of our rural residents will find it hard to afford to pay. Residents living in areas that do not have access to mains gas will be affected more than their urban counterparts, because the cost of their fuel is always proportionately higher, and they cannot benefit from dual fuel discounts.
Humber & Wolds Rural Action has run the YORSwitch Bulk Oil Buying Scheme in East Yorkshire since 2013 and our aim is to reduce the cost of heating oil by bulk purchasing. Anyone in your community who uses oil for heating can join the scheme and we have provided a new leaflet (link below).
I also enclose our Oil Price Comparison Chart, which shows the cost members of the YORSwitch Scheme have paid for the last 9 months, so giving residents the opportunity to see if we are cheaper than their current supplier. Please could you display this in your notice board(s) as well?
Details of how to join the scheme or to email or telephone us if more information is required, are on the leaflet provided. All we want to do is help reduce the cost of heating in oil fired homes, so your help would be greatly appreciated.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking to agree a charter between itself and local town and Parish Councils and as a parish we may decide to adopt this charter to encourage clear communication with other public bodies. A copy of the charter is here, and I will put this as an Agenda item at the next Parish meeting. If anyone has any strong view for or against, we can discuss them then. The next Meeting is likely to be in April.
The village jubilee event will take place on the afternoon/evening of Saturday 4th June 2022 so please save the date.
A group of us are meeting this week to organise activities for the day. If anyone has any ideas or contacts for entertainment etc then please get in touch with Sara.
So that we can organise the event and get an idea of numbers, it would really help us if you could email Sara if you wish to attend and let us know the number of adults and children hoping to come, just so we have a rough idea of numbers.
We realise June is still a long way off and people's plans can change but it would help us to organise activities/catering/entertainment for the day if we have an idea of numbers.

The residents of Bielby gave a total of £340 between launching the 2021 annual Bielby charity donations on the 6th December and closing the collection on the 6th January 2022.
(18 Donations were received, including £175 of on-line bank transfers, £80 of donations by cheque and £85 in cash donations.)
All money raised this year was donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance (Registered Charity No. 1084305), as agreed at the parish meeting held in October (Bielby Parish Meeting Minutes, Item 12).
Previously, Bielby Parish raised £345 in 2020; £318.81 in 2019 and £223.29 in 2018.

On 23 November 2021 East Riding of Yorkshire Council adopted the Flood Risk Sequential and Exception Test Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The adopted SPD provides further guidance on the application of Policy ENV6 (Managing Environmental Hazards) of the East Riding Local Plan Strategy Document and will be an important material consideration in the determination of planning applications.

STATUS UPDATE, 30 DECEMBER: 2021 Bielby Charity Donations (in lieu of carol singing).
Since launching the 2021 Annual Bielby Charity Donations on the 6th December, we have raised £255 so far as of 30th December 2021 (£150 of online bank transfers, £50 cheque and £55 in cash donations).
- The fund will remain open for any further donations until Epiphany, 6th January 2022, for anyone who wishes to celebrate the new year with a charitable donation to a worthy cause.
All money raised this year will be donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Last year, 2020, Bielby Parish raised £345; £318.81 in 2019 and £223.29 in 2018.
Donations can be made by either:
(a.) Online bank transfer to Bielby Parish Meeting Account, Account number: 83103228, Sort code: 60-16-35, stating: “2021 Carol Singing” as the “Reference” or “Message to Payee”; or,
(b.) Cash or cheque made payable to Bielby Parish Meeting Account in a sealed envelope, clearly mark the envelope “2021 Carol Singing” and deliver to either Paul Ward at The Byre, Graham Tew at Corner Farm, or Ian Ross at Firgrove House.
- Any cash donations can be made anonymously if preferred.
- Groups of neighbours, friends or families may prefer to arrange to contribute to a single ‘pot’ between them and donate the combined amount from one representative of the group.
