Watch Out Thief About

I have just received an email to say that someone in the village was the victim of a burglary between 1200 Friday and 1300 Sunday.

Substantial amounts of jewellery have been taken.

Would anyone who has seen anything suspicious contact Pocklington Police and everyone in the village needs to be on their guard.

Incident In Thornton Lane

I was told this week about an incident that occurred recently in Thornton Lane at around 3pm, where a man got out of his car and started to be suggestive. Fortunately he was some distance away from the walker and when another car turned into the lane he quickly drove off.

I know that lots of you in the village like to walk, run or cycle to keep fit or just enjoy a walk with your dogs or family, so I wanted to let you know so that you are aware, can be extra vigilant and can keep safe on your walks, runs or cycle rides around the area.

Counselling & Psychotherapy Service & Yoga

My name is Rachael and I am currently finishing my advanced training as a Gestalt psychotherapist and will be UKCP registered once I am finished. I am able to work from a room in my home in Bielby and I have daytime, weekend and evening appointments available for either short or long term counselling. The initial consultation is free and sessions usually last an hour and cost around £30 (but I operate a sliding scale depending on income).
Gestalt therapy uses creative ways of working with the relationship between client and counsellor to raise awareness in order to improve personal and professional relationships in your life in a caring and safe environment.

I also teach Kundalini Yoga classes in York and Hull at the weekends. Kundalini is a yoga, that like Gestalt ideas, raises awareness about the body, emotions and mind. It works with the nervous and glandular systems of the body and so is very helpful for reducing stress and increasing fitness of the body and mind to cope with everyday life.
If there is enough interest I would also be very happy to teach a class more locally.

Beck Clearing March 2011

Help to keep our beck free flowing and prevent flooding in the village. On Saturday (5th March) at 10am a group of us will be helping to clear the beck, cutting down willow regrowth etc.

If you can spare any time then come on down, we are meeting down Thornton Lane, just over Market Bridge (that's the beck bridge, not the canal bridge) on the left hand side.

Volunteers Wanted To Help Organise Event For Royal Wedding Day

I was thinking of organising a village event for the Royal Wedding Day, so I am looking for volunteers to help.

Steve and I have had an idea! We were thinking of a Bielby Royal Wedding where the villagers get dressed up as if they are going to the wedding. We were thinking of maybe starting with pre-wedding drinks in the pub (need to check this with Jean and Mike), then wondered if we could televise the royal wedding in the church (need to check with the church and organise a big screen tv, thought we could have a plate to donate to the church), then back to pub maybe for post wedding drinks and then reception in our large grain shed with tressel tables set up like a wedding reception with favours etc but so as not to complicate it the food/drink could be bring your own wedding picnic and drinks, followed by a disco or band!

I haven't done anything about this yet and there's lots to consider, eg insurance, hire of tv, venues, invites for villagers, tables and chairs, decorations, music/disco etc
