Saturday, 18th September
Saturday, 22nd November
Saturday, 20th December

Quickline Broadband
Some of you may have noticed that the village hall now has broadband; this was generously donated by www.quickline.co.uk of Hull. You may have also noticed that the connection speeds are much higher than the current offering from BT allowing users to stream HDTV and movies. It is also possible to migrate you phone to this service but retain you old BT number. Quickline already had a number of satisfied customers in the village, and so if you would like to see a demonstration of the connection speeds and would like more information then Leanne Benfer will be at the first part of the inn night on Friday 8th of August until 9PM.

Everingham oil club
If you live in the circulation area of this newsletter and would like to be included in the oil club then please email phil.cartwright1@btinternet . You will then receive an email when the next delivery is due. If you require oil at that time then you will be advised of the chosen supplier for that month, you should then make contact directly with the supplier to arrange payment. Our normal delivery months are January, March, May, September & November. From time to time interim deliveries may be arranged, however we suggest that to get the best prices we should try and concentrate on these planned dates.

Harswell flower festival.
Many thanks to everyone who helped at the Harswell flower festival on the 13-15th June. Thank you very much to all those who made cakes and served teas and also put up tents and took them down and carried around tables and chairs.   Special thanks to Helen Marsden and her friends who made the church look fantastic and donated many of the flowers they used and to Gill Hodgson who very generously provided flowers free of charge.  Grateful thanks to Tim Clappison for allowing us to put up tents in his garden and use his utility room, water and toilet.  Special thanks also to Tom who spent many hours painting inside and outside the church and tidying the churchyard including regravelling the path and cutting the grass.

Our village is featured in the magazine, Gridline published by Nationgrid.

Beer Festival.
Many thanks to all you volunteers who helped fetch, carry and erect the marquee. We needed it, did it rain?!

World Cup.
Without mentioning our team, hope you have enjoyed watching the football on the big screen.
With regard to the sweepstake, some households are very much in the running whilst others are on the flight home! Better luck in 2016 or 2018 or ----
Thank you anyway for entering into the spirit of it and because of you the Village Hall fund is £80 better off and the finalists will be £50 and £30 richer! I wonder who it will be?

Everingham Wind Farm
Everingham Carrs Wind Farm was registered as a company in February of this year, backed by Whirlwind Renewables.
It has come to our knowledge that they are proposing a large scale industrial energy development comprising of five turbines of a height of 115m (377ft), to be located on land just to the south of Southfield Lane.  To put the size of these turbines into context, Big Ben is 96m high and York Minster is 60m high.  These would be similar in scale to the largest onshore turbines in the county.  If other East Yorkshire villages’ experience is any guide, the first five are likely to be followed by future applications to add additional turbines.
The issue is not whether wind energy is good or bad, but that this location appears to be wholly inappropriate for such a large-scale wind farm.
As yet these proposals are not currently in the public domain and have only come to light as the company had to conduct a pre-planning consultation with Helen and Philip Guest because of the Hall's status as a Grade 1 Listed building.
The neighbours of the houses closest to the proposed development have met with Helen and Phil and are carefully assessing the situation in detail.
If you have any comments or concerns please contact Helen Guest.
