Email About Cold Calling

Alex has received this email and thought it was worth putting on the website.
I thought this message worth circulating to everyone as these people may decide to move on to your area next.  Please bear in mind that we do live in a relatively safe area but this doesn't mean we don't need to remain vigilant;

Four men from out of the area were reported to the police last Friday by a resident of Kirk Ella for cold calling on an elderly neighbour and trying to sell cloths. The Kirk Ella police team found that one of them was using a fake license and has a record for burglary, and believe they have come to commit burglary here. They were driving a white Astra.

Please can you be aware. If you see them please can you call the police on 101 and report their whereabouts.

Also, please remind your friends and neighbours, especially if they are elderly, not to engage with these people, or anyone like this.

If you live in a No Cold Calling Zone no one should knock on your door to sell anything or collect money without an appointment.

If you don't live in a No Cold Calling Zone you could still have a window sticker saying ‘Don’t call here’ - just let me  know if you would like some to distribute to your more elderly or vulnerable members.

Many burglaries are through insecure windows and doors, so again, please remind everyone to keep windows and doors locked.
