The combined team of Bielby Hayton & Shiptonthorpe travelled to Escrick on Friday evening and despite being underdogs came away with the Canon Hedley Trophy with an excellent performance with all team members contributing.
It's a unique competition for villages in the area where the only rule is that all players must reside within the parish boundary.
The make up of the team was 6 from Bielby 3 from Hayton& 2 from Shiptonthorpe.
Scores
Bielby won the toss and batted making 135 for 2
John Chaplin 46, Adam Thomas 20 & John Gilham 37 not out.
Escrick 105 for 5 with John Chaplin, Lewis Chaplin& George Baty taking 1 wicket each.
We last won the trophy in 2006 so it's been a long time between drinks!
Finally thanks to those villagers who came to support us, especially Jim Whitwell who I think has assumed the position of team manager!
