Miriam Payne Event 6th February 2026

Seas The Day

Record Breaking Elite Ocean Rower Miriam Payne Event

Two women, one boat, 8000 miles of Pacific Ocean. That’s the incredible challenge that Jess Rowe (28) and local girl Miriam Payne (26) set themselves over a year ago raising money for the Outward-Bound Trust. After months of preparation, in May they set off rowing unsupported for 8000 nautical miles for 165 days from Peru to Cairns Australia. Showing amazing resilience, strength, humour, endurance and determination, on 18th October 2025 they completed this incredible challenge becoming the first women’s team to row the full Pacific Ocean nonstop and unsupported.

Their achievements include:

First female team to row the pacific mainland to mainland non-stop and unsupported

First pair to row the pacific mainland to mainland non- stop and unsupported

The youngest team to row the pacific mainland to mainland non-stop and unsupported

We are thrilled that Miriam Payne has said she would like to support our charity Pocklington Rugby in the Community again www.pockritc.com

So, if you are fascinated by this record-breaking achievement and want to hear more, she is coming along to give a talk about the challenge, how she and Jess prepared, the difficulties they faced and how she and Jess were able to complete this incredible journey. She’ll be sharing stories, pictures and video footage. There will also be the opportunity to ask any questions you may have to an elite ocean rower!
