Telephone Scam

Alex was sent this email from ERYC about a telephone scam so we thought that we would make you all aware of this.
I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service Technician (could also be Telus) who was conducting a test on the telephone lines.
He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine (9), zero (0), the hash sign (#), and then hang up.

Luckily, I was suspicious and refused.

Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number.

I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many local jails/prisons.

DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE...

The GTE Security Department requested that I share this information with EVERYONE I KNOW.
After checking with Verizon they also said it was true, so Do not dial 90# for anyone !!!!!

Ceroc Dancing At Allerthorpe Village Hall

CEROC DANCE
learn how to dance like a pro!

Starting on Thursday 12th January 2012 at Allerthorpe Village Hall.

7.30 pm to 9.30 pm £5 per session

Instructors: Barry Johnson and Alison Fisher

Everyone welcome

Ceroc is an abbreviation of the French phrase c’est Rock. A stylish dance, sometimes referred to as ‘Modern Jive’, it's a fusion of Salsa, Ballroom, Hip Hop, Tango and Jive. A Ceroc evening is a great way to meet people, have fun and keep fit, all whilst learning to dance.

Here's a youtube video to give you an example of what Ceroc is like - it may take the Allerthorpe class a few weeks to get to this standard!

For further details, please contact Fiona Lambert on (01759) 306371

PS. Quite a few people from Bielby will be attending this dance class and you don't need a partner to join in the fun. It's a good idea to wear shoes that you are able to do spins with and you will get quite warm, so a t-shirt or light weight clothing is sensible.
